Bio-based materials in focus
For Technikum Laubholz, the fair was an important milestone filled with inspiring conversations, new contacts, and concrete starting points for future collaborations. In many discussions with visitors, partners, and companies, it became clear that bio‑based materials are no longer seen as a vision of the future — they are already market‑ready in numerous applications today.
Our wood‑based fibers show that sustainable alternatives to fossil raw materials can already deliver convincing results in fashion, home textiles, and technical textiles. At the same time, it became evident that further development work is still needed in some areas — for example in scaling, process optimization, or adapting materials to specific performance requirements.
The exchange at the fair confirmed how important it is to tackle these challenges together and to collaborate along the entire value chain. Equally central was the question of what it takes to bring new solutions into industrial practice. Reliable quality standards, transparent supply chains, and close cooperation between research, industry, and brands play a decisive role here.
WDBSD TX® – our sustainable hardwood-based textile fiber
A particular highlight was the strong interest in WDBSD TX®, our innovative textile fiber made from hardwood. It combines ecological benefits with high functionality and demonstrates that sustainability and performance are not contradictory. The fiber is 100% bio‑based, produced from sustainably managed hardwood, and offers properties that can compete with — or even surpass — conventional fibers. Thanks to its versatility, it is suitable for fashion, home textiles, technical textiles, and composite materials. At the same time, it helps reduce dependence on fossil resources and replace synthetic fibers or microplastics.
