The Technikum Laubholz Future Prize – the Waldmacher – recognises those who, between July 2025 and August 2026, use their ideas and actions to help preserve and protect our forests and ensure a future for the forest as a habitat.

Landesgartenschau Ellwangen

 

On April 24, the Landesgartenschau will begin in Ellwangen. We at TLH will also be taking part in the diverse program with a lecture and the presentation of this year’s Waldmacher Award. Further information will follow shortly.

Alb-Donau District Forest and Wood Day

 

Our experts in sustainable materials will be giving a talk this afternoon on sustainable textile and carbon fibres made from regional hardwood in the ‘Research & Science’ session (from 3 pm).

The event has a festival atmosphere and invites visitors to explore the themes of forest and wood in a relaxed setting – with exhibitions, information stands, workshops, talks, craft activities, tours, food stalls, and art and music.

Forest Day – ForstBW

 

Discover, marvel, learn – a nature experience for everyone

At Forest Day, ForstBW (Eastern Alb Forest District) invites all nature lovers to discover the forest habitat in all its fascinating forms. At several interactive stations, visitors will gain fascinating insights into the forest ecosystem, its inhabitants and the people who look after its protection and use. The TLH will be represented at Station 15 with the theme ‘Hardwood innovations for the future’.

KIckBio Project Reports Successful Outcomes

The KIckBio project reports positive results
The KIckBio research project at Technikum Laubholz has successfully completed its second phase. The focus was on whether artificial intelligence (AI) can make the production of microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) from hardwood more efficient, scalable and cost-effective. The answer is a resounding yes, laying the foundations for industrial application.

Through their project ‘We Protect the Forest – The Forest Makers of Sambuga School’, the school has been actively committed to the conservation and sustainable development of the forest for over two decades.

SkaDES Project Meeting:
Scaling Sustainable Bioprocesses

The SkaDES project has officially commenced. In collaboration with our partners, we are conducting research on scalable and sustainable bioprocesses. During the project meeting at TLH in Göppingen, we reviewed the current progress of the individual subprojects and had the opportunity to tour the newly inaugurated bio laboratory.

Technikum Laubholz at the Festo Innovation Day 2025: ‘100 Years in Motion’

On 2 July 2025, the Technikum Laubholz was represented at the Festo Innovation Day in Esslingen – a special event marking Festo’s 100th anniversary.

A collaboration between Technikum Laubholz and Texoversum at the University of Reutlingen has resulted in an impressive monochrome collection, characterised by modern cuts and a call to protect the planet.

 

This collection was first unveiled as a sneak preview at the Laubholztage 2024 and officially launched at Berlin Fashion Week.

Introducing the 2024 Waldmacher!

The Waldmacher, presented by the Technikum Laubholz, recognises outstanding initiatives for a sustainable future. This year’s winners were announced at the Laubholztage.

 

DThe 2024 winners are the Jebenhausen Nature Kindergarten with the project “The Forest is Full of Possibilities” in the “Young Talent Award for Nurseries & Schools” category, and GEO DATA GmbH & Zentrum für Digitale Entwicklung GmbH with the project “Klimawald Westhausen” in the “Sustainability” category.

CELLUN Research Project

Technikum Laubholz is collaborating on the CELLUN research project with its project partners – the German Institutes for Textile and Fibre Research in Denkendorf (DITF), ElringKlinger, Cordenka, CG Tec and Fiber Engineering – as well as its associated partners Porsche, FESTO and manaomea.
